Recovery In Action International is a federally-approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supported by public donations. Your tax-deductible contribution will help us to maintain our valuable educational services to eliminate stigma and end discrimination against mental illness by bringing recovery to the community

We do not receive any government funding, insurance reimbursements or fees for service. Our ability to continue our valuable educational programs and community activities is dependent on your donations.

The following are comments from RIA to let you know of some of our work.

"During our presentations, as we look into the eyes of our audiences, no matter what different venue, we notice we have their rapt attention. We can see compassion, understanding, judgment, sometimes fear, often amazement, and maybe even disgust. After our speaker continues with their very real story of mental illness and the road they walked to get recovered, we then see admiration, hope, tears for some and determination in others. Respect for those who have faced circumstances you would think should have kept them down and out, but here they are recovered or recovering from the worst tortures of the soul. The speakers once shunned are now a contributing part of the community, sharing and giving back with gratitude that they have their remarkable story of recovery to offer as their gift.

After the presentations are complete, the audience responds with questions and with courage and fortitude to face almost anything, now the speaker answers honestly and with a sense of purpose. When all questions have been exhausted, the meeting ends and that is when a good deal of our work begins. Some people come up to the Recovery In Action International (RIA) staff to find out about resources for themselves or family members, to tell us about the stigma they have suffered, to ask for help with their own mental challenges or just to thank us for reinforcing or changing their thinking. We know who we are to our audiences, and it is a fulfilling and worthwhile endeavor."

Because of this and much more, RIA is requesting your support and donations. Based on the need in the community, the tears of sadness or joy we see in the eyes of our audiences reflect what is in their hearts. With your help, we can grow stronger and touch more lives. Whether it be in the new attitude of the medical professionals we meet or in the consumers we address, Mental Illness is lonely, frightening, and daunting. Recovery In Action International stands ready to shine a light in the dark places.
